Hearthstone Masters Information Revealed; Debuts in March

Hearthstone is a Heroes of Warcraft card game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. In order to make the game’s Esports segment more accessible and entertaining to fans, they have announced a new program called Hearthstone Masters that will debut in March 2019.

This new program will consist of two segments – Hearthstone Masters Qualifiers and Hearthstone Masters Tour. For the Qualifiers of the event, anyone who wants to test their skills can join and try themselves out. Blizzard said that they will hold about 30 such tournaments every week, hosting them through Battlefly. This will allow players to compete on a schedule of their own liking.

Those who perform the best in the qualifiers will receive two things. First are some Hearthstone card packs, and second, more important is an invite to a corresponding Masters Tour event. If you’d like to register for the qualifiers, it will be live two weeks before every Masters Qualifier is set to start.

Here is the first glimpse of this tournament’s schedule:

  • March 6th, 3:00 AM CET – Hearthstone Masters Qualifiers: Las Vegas 1
  • March 6th, 9:00 AM CET – Hearthstone Masters Qualifier Las Vegas – 2
  • March 6th, 2:00 PM CET – Hearthstone Masters Qualifier Las Vegas – 3
  • March 6th, 8:00 PM CET – Hearthstone Masters Qualifier Las Vegas – 5
  • March 6th, 11:00 PM CET – Hearthstone Masters Qualifier Las Vegas – 5

If you are interested in the rest of the tournament, you can check out the entire remainder of the 5-week tournament here!

Each month during the Qualifiers, Blizzard will publish the best players in a Standard Ranked Play Ladder. Those who reach the end of the month in the Top 200 will receive invites to a Ranked Ladder Qualifier. And, the top four finishes from here will get a spot in the Hearthstone Masters Tour event.

Hearthstone Masters

This Masters Tour event is set to begin on June 14-16  in LINQ Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, boasting a $250,000 prize pool. After Las Vegas, the Hearthstone Masters Tour will migrate to Europe and Asia, more destinations planned in 2020. Dates and Locations will be announced two weeks before the beginning of their Qualifier season.

Blizzard said that they want to give regular players a way to support the event through grabbing some in-game items. This means that there will be some limited-time Esports bundle in the shop. One portion of those sales will go for the prize pools for all three Masters Tour events. More details about this soon.

Adding to this, Blizzard is going to exchange the Conquest format for something they called Specialist. In Specialist, players will be able to submit three decks in the same class and designate one as the primary deck. After the first game, players can decide if they will keep playing with the primary one, or switch to another of two.

Blizzard said: “We are excited to see how the Specialist format performs when played at the pro level and we’re eager to implement community feedback to improve it as needed throughout 2019.”
