ESL Expanding Into Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia for Dota 2 Tournaments

ESL Expanding Into Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia for Dota 2 Tournaments

ESL was already a large event, but now they are looking to expand in the Asian region. After the success in Indonesia, ESL in Asia will start holding Dota 2 leagues in Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia/Singapore. In the upcoming weeks, four online qualifiers will be held to see who has sufficient skills to compete.

ESL in Asia

Every tournament will feature eight teams and is set to begin in April, to last to May.

Nick Vanzetti, the Vice President of ESL Asia-Pacific Japan announced: “The National Championships represent our commitment to growing local Esports stars in Southeast Asia. Southeast Asia represents an expanding market full of growth potential and some of the best teams in the region. We believe our approach can help facilitate more SEA players into the international esports scene, creating a true Zero to Hero story for the region.”

Last year, ESL saw potential in Asia and decided to expand themselves to that continent. They began in Indonesia and brought the National Championship Series to the country. As the move showed an obvious success, they appointed Nick Vanzetti as the Managing Director. So they’ve focused on bringing games popular in that region, such as Dota 2 and Arena of Valor. A “Clash of Nations” tournament will be held in late March.

In these regions, several job offers are on deck. This makes this move obvious and they are probably going to expand even further.
